Rising nearly 2962 meters above sea level, and affords direct views into the caldera of Tanzania’s only officially -active volcano,and the world’s only carbonate volcano;records of eruptions have been maintained since 1883,the largest of which deposited ash 100 kilometres away in Loliondo on the kenyan border to the north west
This active volcano provides breath taking views across the Rift Valley and along the Gregory’s Rift escarpment toward Lake Natron.
We recommend a night climb to take advantage of magnificent early morning view and avoid furnace heat.
